French Fête week 5!

Hello CPS students, teachers, parents and friends!!

As we all know, our French Fête is coming up REALLY soon and EVERY student in the school will be performing a song with their class on the day to celebrate!

As it is so soon, we really need your help.

All classes have now had at least one session with their Performing Arts teacher, and should know what song they are doing with their class, and should know the actions/words/expectations of how it will look and sound.

As we only have students for 50 minutes a week, it’s really tricky to learn all the words/moves/actions etc in that short period of time, so if we can practice ANY other time it would be so greatly appreciated.

All of the resources are available on this blog- if you go to “Classroom Program’ above and select the year level, their song/dance/accompaniment etc will be there to work on. If there are any problems, please don’t hesitate to contact me at mckenzie.emily.l@edumail.vic.gov.au

Your help will be greatly appreciate and help contribute to a wonderful performance come French Fête day.

Many thanks,

Ms. McKenzie and Mrs Nath.

The Heart of Camberwell

With open hearts and hands
We welcome one and all
From all across the lands
United we stand tall

With kindness and respect
We journey here as one
Avec la gentillesse
Nous apprenons ensemble

With open hearts and minds
We learn and share and play
La découverte de soi
En Anglais et Français

Nous chantons sous une voix
On marche main dans la main
Nous voyageons ensemble
On partage un chemin

The spirit of our school
The chiming of our bell
We’ll carry all our lives
The heart of Camberwell

FOUNDATION LESSON:

Click here to see the different songs Foundation have learnt. Practise these.

The children will need some time working independently, so have them draw a picture of their favourite song at the tables.

Then you can do some dancing on GoNoodle or Just Dance on Youtube.

GRADE 2 LESSON: Resources are on the bookshelf near the pencils and scissors etc.

Learning Intention:

Today we are learning to read music on the Treble Staff

Success Criteria:

I can recognise and name the notes on the lines and in the spaces.

I can draw a note in the correct space or on the correct line.

Tuning in/ Explanation/ Presentation:

Discuss the musical alphabet A-G, stressing that it does not continue to H & beyond.

Teach the children the mnemonics “Every Good Boy Does Fine” and “FACE in the Space”.

Watch the video:

Every Good Boy Does Fine:

Show how the noteheads always fit exactly in a space or on a line.

Show how one can count up or back through the musical alphabet (A-G) on the lines and spaces to find a particular letter name.

WHOLE GROUP:

Lead by the teacher, children practise drawing notes on the staff in the lines and spaces. They practise naming the notes with the correct name and write the letter under each note.

INDIVIDUAL WORK:

Children work on the task sheet “Identifying Notes”. They have to write the correct letter name for the notes displayed.

Differentiation: More advanced students can draw the notes for the letter names given.

PARTNER WORK:

Children work in pairs with a mini whiteboard and marker each. They take it in turns to draw a note for their partner, who must write the correct letter name beneath it.

And the lyrics!

Count on Me

If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea,
I’ll sail the world to find you
If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can’t see,
I’ll be the light to guide you

Find out what we’re made of
When we are called to help our friends in need

You can count on me like one two three, I’ll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like four three two
You’ll be there
‘Cause that’s what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

Whoa, whoa, Oh, oh Yeah, yeah

If you tossin’ and you’re turnin’ and you just can’t fall asleep
I’ll sing a song, Beside you
And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me
Everyday I will, Remind you, Ooh

Find out what we’re made of
When we are called to help our friends in need

You can count on me like one two three
I’ll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like four three two
You’ll be there
‘Cause that’s what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

Oh, oh, Yeah, yeah

You’ll always have my shoulder when you cry
I’ll never let go
Never say goodbye
You know you can

Count on me like one two three
I’ll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like four three two
And you’ll be there
‘Cause that’s what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

Oh, oh
You can count on me ’cause I can count on you

See you all on Monday at 9.50am in the reading room!
Merci

Mme Davies 🙂
