Senior 5 Performing Arts

Bonjour et bienvenue à Grade 5 Performing Arts! 🙂

This year in Performing Arts our first major performance will be the French Fête!

We will be playing ukulele and guitars, and singing Le Lion est Mort Ce Soir (The Lion Sleeps Tonight).

As the fête is only at the end of week 5, I need you to practice as much as you can at home and in class time so we are ready for to perform in 3 weeks!

If you have a ukulele t home, please practice with these chords and follow along with the video, it’s a bit quick but the more you practice the better!

IN CLASS: In semester one G5 students have predominantly focused on Music studies. In term 1 we learnt to sing in harmony in French, leading up to our performance of Amir’s “J’ai Cherché” at the CPS French Fête. This performance sounded beautiful on stage and was very well-received by the whole community.
In term 2 we began instrumental tuition, learning how to play the ukulele. Whilst learning this we also studied many different aspects of music, such as; theory- note values, and reading notes on the (treble/bass/alto) staff; aural skills- matching pitch, recognising (intervals at) higher and lower pitches; and general music knowledge- such as naming instruments of the orchestra, classifying instruments into families, et cetera.

In semester two we delve deeper into the Performing Arts, and we look further into Dance and Drama. We begin term three focusing on our Whole School Song “The Heart of Camberwell”, and our Flash Mob dance, which can both be found on this website: www.thenightingaleproject.edublogs.org. This website is currently under construction, so keep checking for more updates.

Later in terms 3 and 4 we will look at more aspects of the Drama curriculum. We will explore improvisation and will focus on activities that foster a growing sense of confidence. In class our group work allows students to participate without feeling they are at the centre of attention. This is important in supporting all students and again helps develop confidence and a love of the Performing Arts. Keep checking this page to stay posted on what the children are learning.

MERCI , Mme D 🙂
